A Note on Usage, and a Reminder

Class:
One difficulty for non-native speakers when they use a new word is that they do not know the frequency of the new word's use or the context in which the new word needs to be used. The dictionary doesn't always have the answers.
Fortunately, I am brilliant, so I know nearly every word students try to use, and I know how to correct the use of that word. However, this week many of you used the word "tribade". I had never heard of the word before. It is a real word, but it is very uncommon; you should just use "lesbian."
When you use a word that you think might be unusual, try to find it in a regular essay online. Most daily and monthly publications are up on the web now and accessible through search engines. Don't hesitate to ask me during a break or at an office hour, either.

P.S.--Remember that out-of-class assignments need to be typed from now on.
P.P.S.--I will start to put comments about the essays assigned for class on the facebook group.
