Happy New Year

Classes:
I won't hold my office hour on New Year's Eve. I will hold class, though.
For the last three weeks, we will review the grammar that we've studied for the class. We will continue to practice speaking and listening. The extra credit paper assignment will be available after the new year.
Don't miss the last week of class, for it is the final exam. I will have to fail you unless you miss the class because of an emergency.

The final exam will include the following:
--An essay comparing one of the movies we watched in class to a Taiwanese movie, television show, or book.
--An essay discussing a Simpsons episode.
--A comprehensive grammar exam, covering the following:
1. Parts of speech
2. Independent and dependent clauses and phrases
3. Punctuation (comma, semicolon, colon, dash, period, question mark, etc.)
4. Shifts in time
5. Shifts in person
6. Verbals
7. Parallelism
8. Sentence patterns
9. Subject/Verb agreement
--An in-class edit of one of your short papers written for class (Food paper, courtship paper, etc.).
--A written discussion of a Patterns Plus essay.
